Later on the 1st and 2nd of March 2017, both the Regional Director and Deputy Director of the WFDRSA, Ms. Clarissa attended the UNESCAP 4th Session of the Working Group on the Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities, 2013-2022 which was also held in Bangkok, Thailand. Many were discussed at the Session, special highlight on the presentation made by the representative of the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) on their initiatives for pessengers with disabilities travelling by air.

Another highlight of these events — it’s the first time since the 20-year of establishment of the WFDRSA Office to have deaf and hearing interpreters within the Asian region to provide International Sign interpreting, which was a good start. Look forward to seeing more and more talented IS interpreters in Asia. The WFDRSA hopes to raise more awareness of the needs of the deaf people by participating in these events and to ensure the access to information.
