ADYS

ADYS is the abbreviation of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) Regional Secretariat for Asia (RSA) Youth Section (YS), which was established in 2008. ADYS is formally known as the Asia Pacific Youth Section, which was later changed to Asia Deaf Youth Section.

The Youth Section of the Asia Region between 2008 and 2012 was known as APYS. Since the WFDRSA/P changed to WFDRSA in 2012, APYS was changed to ADYS. The ADYS board consists of the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

Objectives of the ADYS

- Strengthen the relationship and collaboration with WFDYS

- Provide opportunities for deaf youth of the Asia Region to meet each other

- Exchange opinions and information, and

- Endeavor toward the promotion of the human rights of deaf youth in Asia

The APYS had been encouraging the deaf youth to participate in the Youth Camp, promoting the human rights for them, and facilitating the establishment of national organizations of deaf youth in countries/regions in Asia. Eventually, there was a demand for a Youth Section for the deaf youth of the Asia Region. It was finally established at the 20th WFDRSA/P Representative Meeting at Nepal in December in 2008. The first Youth Section Representative Meeting was held concurrently with the 21st WFDRSA/P Representative Meeting in Gyeongju, Korea in 2009.
